Robert Martin is winner of a prestigious Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. One Year the Milkweed for flute and orchestra was dedicated to Lisa Hansen, who gave its world premiere in 2011. The work was inspired by an Arshile Gorky’s painting of the same title.and features a haunting movement for alto flute.
